Victorian Steampunk Hat - Mrs. Lincoln

At an early age Mary Ann Todd (Lincoln) was sent to Madame Mantelle's finishing school, where the curriculum concentrated on French and literature. She learned to speak French fluently.  After the death of her husband and after her release from a mental institution, Mary toured Europe for four years and took up residence in Pau, France.  While in France, Mary grew a love affair with all that was French including hats and clothes.  This hat is adorned with teardrop beads, which were very popular for use on hats and dress during the 1880's.

"Mrs. Lincoln" is a Steampunk Victorian hat designed over a beautiful soft black wool hat base. The front and back of the hat are accented with organza and satin black millinery roses. The hat band is black silk. The crown has beautiful black ostrich feathers billowing over it...dainty black French style beads accent the hat brim and a 2 Tier black tulle veil with rat tail edging and scattered black beads cascades down the back.

The Hat is JET BLACK!
